I just finished it. I was such a fan of hers, still am. Basically, it seemed so sad. She said very little about the olympics, really. If sounds like dean was the love of her life and she has never recovered. Also how disorienting it was to go from amatuer to pro. She was kind of the last of that generation, the first to be really marketable
anyone else have views?

I don't have the book yet...but I'm rite now listening to her on my favorite radio show talking about it! I will certainly be getting it....she really has a great story.
I'm just waiting to see if she mentions Michelle at all....not sure why she would....but you never know! :)
ETA.....Michelle was mentioned!!!!! Julia....of Lori & Julia (my favorite radio show in the world)....mentioned that she misses skaters like her (Dorothy), and Peggy Fleming......and Michelle Kwan!!!!......she said quote, "I think Michelle has that kind of grace as well"........then my internet messed up so I didn't get what Dorothy said.....
Just proves my point......if you are talking about skating...it's only natural that Michelle comes up somehow!

Cool that Michelle was mentioned on the radio show!! Thanks for sharing. Is "A Skating Life" in Barnes and Nobles nationwide? If so, gotta go find it...

I don't think that you'll have trouble finding it; Dorothy has had a number of interviews this week.

Thanks for linking Times Q&A w/D. Hamill. I didn't follow or watch figure skating when she competed but have seen her skate professionally on TV thru the 90's along with other skaters and just seemed so nice. I am thinking of attending her Boardway On Ice in December.

I've seen an interview on T.V. and she speaks very, very well. I hope the book details some happy times she has had, that stayed rewarding to her. I'm sure her daughter is one of those experiences. I hope skating and having fan support are pleasing to her. Good for her for getting solid financial advice.
