Just for the fun of it, does anyone remember back around 1994 when the ISU finally ruled it illegal to die on the ice? That is.....die in the figurative sense, of course :P
I saw this funny fluff piece on Youtube, and thought some of you would get a kick out of it if you haven't seen it yet. And while you're watching it, some of those skaters had some super cheesy death scenes! I think only Witt and T&D had respectable deaths scenes on the ice.
Enjoy this little look back in time when everyone was dying on ice, and when costumes were at an all time high for tackiness! :lol

This reminds me of when sasha cohen sprawled on the ice at the end of her romeo and juliet program in a cheesefest (I believe). Of course it's been disputed whether the sprawl was intentional or not.. but this thread jogged my memory :P

Loociex3, I remember that fall by Sasha, yes I say fall. It was a too jerky and she hit the ice too hard. Some may disagree with me, but that is ok. We all have our opinion. Now I am off to see the funny death on ice vid(s).

Yes, I believe it was a fall too, but I didn't want to cause any possible disputes :)

What's just as funny as the actual "deaths" are the neon colored costumes, the puffy shoulders, skin tight costumes, capri-length tights, and just some very horrid designs that people somehow thought looked good back in the day.
I think the Kween has upped the standard for the way people dress on the ice!

Absolutely. I remember seeing her blue Lyra dress and wondering why all competitors couldn't dress as simply and stunningly as her!
I suppose having Vera Wang in your corner doesn't hurt either... :wink

Here is Sasha's "death" on the ice at Marshalls 2005. As Miss Peggy would say it was "quite effective" lol
