If you had magical powers and could even go back in time, who would you comission to compose music for Michelle to skate to and why? Any particular style you would choose? Remember anyone past or present is up for the job!!

Rahmaninoff can compose a song just for MK & Have Sarah Brightman's voice all over the arena!!!... Now that, with MK's magic...is enchanting and mesmerizing!!! And no...don't go back in time!!!

Frederic Chopin!!! Definitely!!! I do admire his piano music so much because... I think his music is passionate, unique... and suits MK's style very well. :)

I have to go with Rach...he's my favorite, and for present Lee Holdridge...besides EOE everything I have ever heard of his is magnificent! David Foster would be a close second...His symphony sessions are still among my very favorites...

Sibelius! Sibelius! Sibelius! Finlandia makes me cry, and I'm not a Finn... And he has another one, Swan Somethingsomething about a dying black swan, that's gorgeous as well. His stuff is always very passionate but not melodramatic at all. Well maybe a litte melodramatic, but since when is that a bad thing in skating music? Or MK could save a heap of dough (y'know, lab fees) and just use Elgar's Cello Concerto. No need to pull a Dr. Frankenstein, the perfect piece is here - right Amelia? ;-) {edited because I -duh- forgot to tell why I liked Sibelius}

I have given this a lot of thought for the last year. I commute an hour each way to work & usually listen to classical music in the car. There are tons of music out there that has never been used for skating, as far as I know, & I've heard a lot of things that would be great. Chopin is an excellent choice, also Rach, Prokofiev, Elgar & Tchaikowsky, and many others. But I think my first choice would be the soundtrack of "War & Peace". This movie came out over 40 yrs ago, so it's not familiar, but the music is fantastic-it sounds like classical but has the Russian moodiness & drama, and Michelle could really tell a story with it. I think she's at her best doing a character, and the costume could really be beautiful. Is anyone else here familiar with it?

Maria's sp music reminded me of a Rach composition, called "Vocalise". It's the same style, where a single voice is used as a solo instrument. It's a beautiful piece of music IMO - gentle throughout, but with definite highs and lows. It would be great for Michelle to skate to!

1. Mozart. He was brilliant with different moods. 2. Aaron Copland. His music puts pictures in your head like MK does on the ice. 3. John Williams. His music has made the greats greater.

Rachmaninoff would be a wonderful choice as a composer for a song for Michelle. I also agree with choosing Tori Amos since she is my favorite musician. I think it would be a good challenge for Tori to create a piece of music she could not write words for. I would love to see Michelle skate to more Tori music.

Love your banner! I was wondering, since it says "more" hunks of figure skating, did you have a previous banner with hunks of figure skating? Who was on that? Who else would you add if you had enough room? I'm sure everyone would love to offer suggestions! Anyway, your choices are great. Gwendal is too cute. He once posed for a few pictures for me. I still have not recovered from meeting him! I like the other skaters you have on the banner, too. Ingo is also very nice. I didn't even recognize Maurizio. That's another great pic, though...

Michael Nyman and Saint-Saens would accompany Michelle's soft and striking style so well. Nyman does a lot of soundtrack work, but he's done solo non soundtrack pieces which are very powerful. Saint-Saens is a personal favorite, I have always imagine her skating to a few of the pieces from the Carnival of Animals or bringing back a revamped Rondo Capriccisio.
