I just had to start that just because I think guys should get recognition too!

I think Johnny's the prettiest because...well...LOOK AT HIM! He's gorgeous!

Anyone else wanna add to the list?

Ilia Kulik
Sasha Uspenski

I guess I prefer the classic "youthful" look in men's skating.

well if we are going for pretty from those three, then I choose Johnny. He is very pretty with a beautiful soft face.

Johnny is the prettiest, and I love the way he looks on the ice. Uncle Dick said he looks like the "romantic leading man", and I agree!

I love Plushy the best, though; he's one of my Pretend Boyfriends. ;)

Of the 3 the only one I'd look twice at is Evan.
but the hottest male skater is John Zimmerman :)

Plushy pretty? that's a stretch IMO.

of those 3 i'd say Johnny. then again, i think Johnny is prettier than half of the ladies - so it's almost not fair to include him~

aaronts, you crack me up:lol

I have to say Johnny, esp. that dream I had two years ago. Remember? Johnny was gushing all over me, asking me to marry him and said he was dumping Sasha for me. And Sasha was in tears because Johnny was all over me. I wasn't even into Johnny at that time and scarcely know his stats, but now I do;)

If we are to choose only from those three, Johnny is definitely the prettiest, IMO. He has exquisite features. I do think all three are good-looking, in different ways. Evan has an all-American boyish look. Evgeny has more off-beat good looks.

Most beautiful, hottest, cutest, of all skaters is...see my sig! ;)

for me the prettiest is definitely Sasha Abt - can't describe how amazing it was when he took off his "Zorro" mask! it's not only about 'pretty'.

Johnny is very 'beautiful' but not my type...Brian Joubert is absolutely a good looking guy, but because of his body figure he's not pretty enough as Sasha:D

Good question! Out of those 3 I would have to say Weir. Kulik was extremely cute circa 1996ish......Yagudin of course, Lycasek is very cute. Smith at Campbells actually looked pretty........

Plushenko? OK darkphoenix, whatever floats your boat...

I’m sure this will be a shock to everyone, but I think Emanuel Sandhu is the prettiest, and should never be excluded from a “Who’s the prettiest” anything. Just look at him! *eyes roll back in head*

I think Johnny IS "man-pretty" - I'm not into the "he-man" type. I don't find Evan even mildly "pretty."

My Number One is Sasha Abt - and has been for ten years. Too bad that he never got it all together - loaded with talent and so NICE to look at!

Number two would be Johnny Weir - he is gorgeous on and off the ice.

Third - John Zimmerman

Fourth - Yags

Sandhu on the list? I'm sorry, but he looks like Count Dracula and his costumes look like he's wearing a codpiece from the renaissance. Lysacek is good looking in person, Weir is much smaller than I thought he would be, and Plushenko is quite handsome in person as well. My vote goes to Yagudin. He's very handsome, masculine, and polite. I love him to death.

missmarysgarden
October 20th, 2006, 12:47 PM
Lyra, I have to agree with you about Sandhu. When he first came on the scene, I liked him very much - his exoticism was very interesting, and when on, he was technically wonderful.

However, over the years, he has gotten locked in this strange posture and expression - I mentioned a couple years ago that the only look he has now is the Dracula one, and its gotten old....and weird. And he skates mostly on his butt these days.

Johnny is small. What's wrong with small? He is still beautiful.

Oh c’mon LK, u know Sandhu ain’t wearin no codpiece, he can’t help it -- I hear he has big feet.

I gotta go with Bran on this one, plus y’know, me and Sandhu go way back.
Hey Bran, how many questions of ur’s did he answer that night, again? haha

5/20/06 20:17:09 The_Phoenician_Prince: Wasup! Eman, How are u man? First I have to say that u r a gorgeous man. hehe Okay now that that’s over, a question. Who is your hero? And why?

05/20/06 20:26:24 The_Phoenician_Prince: Athletes have different "dream competitions" that they would like to win. Some want a World title, others want an Olympic title. What is your "dream" competition to win?

05/20/06 20:41:36 The_Phoenician_Prince: Eman, I'm 18 years old and would like to get into the modelling industry. Any tips?

05/20/06 20:42:21 *Emanuel*: well...it's not easy and it takes alot of pounding the pavement aand going to castings...something I can't do much of because of training

05/20/06 20:42:51 The_Phoenician_Prince: I can't believe i'm chatting with Emanuel Sandhu. I Love U man!!!!! sorry

05/20/06 20:43:05 *Emanuel*: it's cool lol

05/20/06 20:47:47 *Emanuel*: I HAVE A QUESTION!

05/20/06 20:48:45 The_Phoenician_Prince: Yes I will marry u. hehe

05/20/06 20:49:03 *Emanuel*: !

05/20/06 21:06:22 The_Phoenician_Prince: Eman, what do u do in your spare time? Any hobbies?

05/20/06 21:07:14 *Emanuel*: Spare time!!! ha...kidding

05/20/06 21:08:52 *Emanuel*: I wanted to become a theoretical physicist among other things-architect, roller-coaster designer

05/20/06 21:09:54 The_Phoenician_Prince: I would ride your roller coaster.

05/20/06 21:11:30 *Emanuel*: !

05/20/06 21:12:36 The_Phoenician_Prince: I'm gonna have this chat printed and framed.

Referring to what I said regarding Sandhu and a codpiece, his costumes are blatantly obscene, they are so tight in the crotch and backside area it leaves nothing to the imagination. Johnny Weir's costumes are more conservative, and that is saying something. I think there is a fine difference between flamboyancy and expressiveness, and as a gay man I find Sandhu overly flamboyant, so flamboyant that I cannot bear to watch him. Is a costume that important? It certainly is, it says a lot about you and is just as interpretive as your movements are. When my eyesight is drawn against my will to someone's crotch and backside it is distracting. I find myself laughing and reacting uncomfortably to the image he presents. I am quite offended by it, actually, and I'm not the only one. Enough about Count Dracula.

Regarding Johnny, he always seems to appear very curvaceous and bigger than life on the ice. I saw him for the first time in a cotton tshirt and track pants on the side of the road talking on his cell. My first thought was how small he appeared. He must weigh as much as my boot. I only saw him from behind at first, and his physique is very feminine, and it lends itself so well to the ice. Speaking of image, I was very impressed with his Campbells look. I found myself drawn more to his skating. When you're a very expressive skater and performer, a toned down appearance can enhance your performance value. All those sequins and fabric flapping in the air are distracting to me, a simple look seems better for him. This is all I can say regarding this matter.

Figure skating is quite a feminine sport, it doesn't surprise me if male figure skaters are a bit feminine, or gay. Michael Weiss should be on this list, by the way, even though his highlights annoy me on occasion. His hair last year was fantastic. He's handsome and married. I like his style of skating, its very masculine. I have been told some of my comments can be offensive and I apologize if I have caused any offense. My criticism's regarding Sandhu and styles of skating were overshadowed by my little insecurities regarding sexuality. I don't think its right to assume if any skater is gay, their private life isn't important and isn't why we're here. I DO think figure skating is a feminine sport. The movements and positions have a feminine quality, nothing wrong with that at all. I simply find that a male skater that has a masculine quality on the ice can be very attractive. I love Yagudin's style and conversely I also love Weir's style. He's very expressive and has fluid movements, Yagudin is more poweful and dynamic. I love both sides of the pendulum. My opinion regarding Sandhu should've been fully expressed and I shouldn't have been so caught up in my own insecurities regarding flamboyancy. I apologize for that, I don't want to come off as being homophobic, especially being a gay man myself. What I should have said is this, I find Sandhu's style in costume and the way he presents himself to be somewhat offensive BECAUSE it is a question of taste and it may not be appropriate for the competitive circuit. I could've said that instead of ranting on and on about how much I appear to have disrespect for him. I don't disrespect him, I admire his quality. It's his level of taste I find offensive. Again, so sorry for any offense. I'm being sincere.

If I had to choose between these three men, I would say Johnny is the prettiest. He has a very slim, sleek look about him. In person, he is even nicer to behold. There's an androgynous quality to him, his body is very feminine, but he is undoubtedly male. Evgeny looks like your typical brooding Russian man, overcome by angst and art, but he's also very silly and funny. Evan is a mystery to me. I can't figure him out. He's very handsome though, but I would like to send him a razor. The beard must go, along with the gelled hair look. Enough with it!

Lyra, your assertion that fs is a "quite a feminine sport" might hold a modicum of truth today, but in the beginning, women weren't even allowed to compete. That didn't occur until 1902. In fact, the person considered to be the parent (father) of modern figure skating is an American ballet dancer, Jackson Haines, my temporary avatar lol. His style became popular in Europe, but not in America until long after his death.

Isn't the irony in that so interesting?
The same would be true for gymnastics, although I'm not sure about dates. I just know that women didn't compete in the Olympics until 1928. And it still amazes me today how ignorant people are. They actually think that men do the balance beam. It's not a question of whether the sport is "feminine" or not. It's just that the women's side of the sport is more popular, so people compare that discipline to every athlete in the sport. What is "feminine" anyway? Showing emotion? Give me a break. Same thing with gymnastics. When the average person thinks of gymnastics, he or she thinks of music, pigtails, Nadia, and balance beam. So when they think of a male gymnast, all they can do is replace the athlete with a male. So they think of men with pigtails doing beam and uneven bars.

I made that post ages ago about skating being a feminine sport. Now that I think back on it, I think I can't keep the blame on others getting caught up in the semantics of my speech, part of it is a failure on my part to be more broad in my statements. I don't think ice skating is feminine. I think it is neither masculine nor feminine. MODERN figure skating could be considered feminine, although I assure you my definition of what is "feminine" carries with it no negative connotations. Balletic moves, smooth and elegant lines, spirals, laybacks, etc... I would consider having a feminine quality. I don't think that things that are "feminine" means they should only be exclusive to females. I have red hair, smooth pale/pink skin, and long curly eyelashes. I consider those to be feminine qualities, yet last time I checked I am undoubtedly male. The costumes can be flamboyant and over the top, but that shouldn't suggest they are girly, etc... If I can recall I made statements regarding Sandhu's costumes and I will spare everyone the gory details, but needless to say it had nothing to do with femininity, but with taste.

Just a few thoughts, I wasn't necessarily making a point. I'd love to have conversations about male/female roles, etc... It's a very interesting topic to me, and I appreciate the historical facts. I had no idea that women were excluded from gymnastics, but suffice it to say that the sport was played in the Olympic games in ancient times and they were all men. Although they performed in the nude, which I think is far more appropriate than the lycra bodysuits they wear today, lol. Sorry.

IMO Johnny is the prettiest in a china doll, Sasha Cohen kind of way. Joubert is just plain the hottest!! Kulik is easy on the eyes too. I always thought Sergei Grinkov was handsome.

Sandhu is just plain wierd IMO. I don't find him attractive in the least. Same goes for Evan.

To answer the question, I don´t consider any of them pretty, but from those three I see Evan as best looking. Otherwise I think that e.g. Lambiel is really handsome, hot, etc., but Joubert just goodlooking. Skaters with very average look or even less (Yagudin and Plushenko, although great competitors) I would not put on my list of good-looking, handsome or hot skaters. I also fail to see anything sexy in them, but would assume that they might be nice as persons, but that is something different.

i can't believe this old thread is still going...

why is Plushy on this list? just to make fun of him? i realize taste is subjective, but with that hair & nose, i fail to see how he's even in the running...

count me in as someone who thinks Evan & Sandhu are odd looking. i've found them both attractive at times. other times just odd. Johnny is pretty. Joubert & Lambiel are very cute IMO. i can't think of a current skater i find handsome other than Max Stravinsky(sp?).

the more i think about it though, the more i feel most skaters look a like. tennis players look alike, etc. put Sandhu, Evan, Johnny & Lambiel in a line, & i bet your average person on the street would find them almost otherwordly looking~

I think that Eman is really odd looking too - sorry, just my honest opinion! I think Evan is okay, but too skinny. EAT!

Brian is cute, I agree with that statement or choice of adjectives. If we are saying "Pretty", I have to stick with Johnny - he is very pretty, and I don't mean that in a feminine way at all, he just has nice features.

I like Plushy's eyes. They're very intense! I think he's a good looking man, but maybe I'm just weird. Evan's pretty cute, too. And I agree that Johnny is the "prettiest." Very nice, delicate features!

It is probably his (sandu's) cheek implants...he has them, right?

Sometimes I think Evan looks hot and other times I feel like I am looking at the bottom of someones foot. Don't ask me why, I have no idea.

Why do I feel like I'm being asked "Who's the tallest..Scott Hamilton, Dudley Moore or Danny DeVito?" :silly

this is so LOL funny. yeah, i can see why you'd come to that conclusion. there's a similar "who works hardest" question going on over in the "Forever Sasha" thread. right now, Sasha is in the lead (it is her thread after all), followed closely by Oksana & Johnny~

Lisa, that was over the top ... and hilarious... one of those "make me choke and cough" remarks. I'm still laughing.

I'll give Johnny my pretty vote, but my handsome vote goes to Evan. IMO Plushy is neither, but he sure can skate. Yags, on the other hand - well, he can make my old heart go pitter-patter, just like Evan did with Carmen this year.

You're right. I wouldn't throw him out either, especially if he showed up with the Swiss chocolate he credits for his incredible spins.;)

OT: I'm surprised to see that I have two posts in a row. I wrote one, but it told me it wasn't posting because of some DSL problem. I tried again, and I got the same message. So I just turned on my older dial-up computer, and I see they are both there, making little sense one right after the other like that. I think I'll delete the first one. Hey, 12 days to your big day now?

I'm coming into this thread late: Did anyone mention Matt Savoie?
I think he's quite attractive, in a bookish sort of way.

the only one of the three that comes even close to being attractive is Evan, so I'll go with him.

I'd give Sasha Abt my vote for the prettiest! I admit that Johnny is very "pretty" but sometimes he really makes me feel like I'm looking at a girl:X
love Evan, but he's never in my pretty boy/man list, I think he's just a good looking young guy...

To me Evan has a blank, vacant look. In point of fact, he looks stupid, and when he opens his mouth and speeks, stupidity is pretty much confirmed. Maybe it's those wide set eyes or that huge nose, but handsome is not the word I would use for him. Also that praying mantis body type is a real turn off for me. And why try for facial hair when your low testerone only allows for peach fuss? As unattractive as Plushenko is, he at least has a manly quality, and has quite a bit of personality. Johnny, on the other hand, is not manly looking, but is able to pull off a totally sexy look. He is sooooooo HOT!!!

You would find the prissiest pictures of Plushy. Though I do think he got more mature looking as he go older, I just may have to back off on the manly comment considering your great pictures. I will, however, stand by my "unattractive" and "personality" comments. You have to admit, it takes guts to put on that rediculous muscle suit and skate with a straight face.

I love me some Swiss men! Lambiel and Roger Federer make me melt...Swiss chocolate, Swiss men...what a wonderful combination...*CENSORED*

I think Johnny is the "prettiest" but of those three, Evan is more my cup of tea. I really don't find Plushy to be very attractive, but I agree with rosiekins about his eyes. They are so piercing and intense looking, they always draw me in.

I gotta get my head out of the gutter, I'm about to go to class. Eek!

I agree that Plushy is probably more manly than the other two, especially Johnny, but I don't really like his looks, maybe his nose, not sure. Maybe because I think he is full of himself, not sure why I think he is, but I do.
My fav is Brian Joubert, so fine.
