I noticed on a previous Fave program thread that most MK fans didn't mention Winter as a top choice, maybe it really isn't a fave of most fans, but to me it is truly one of MK's greatest programs that is totally owned by her. I was wondering how many of you saw her performence of it at the Skate America exhibition in I think '97- anyway it was a flawless performance and I had not seen it until I received Cherie's tape, and I have to say I was so moved! The fact that she choreographed it herself in dedication to Harris Collins makes it even more special. Anyway I know I'm rambling, but I was so impressed and thought the choreography was just as good as any other MK programs, and she was only 16 when she created it! She is so amazing. Anyway I guess the whole point of this is to let the MK fans know that if they haven't seen this performence it is a must see MK performance IMO. Just didn't want anyone to miss out like I had for the last 2 years!

I became Homer and went "d'oh!!!" the moment I realized I forgot Winter!!! I really should edit my post there, but in a way, Winter deserves it's own spotlight. It was great how MK choreographed that at 15 in honor of a great friend. She also used it for her '97 World's exhibition and she flew through that one. It was special after what she just went through.

I agree Lexi, I'm one of those who did pick "Winter", both as a program and as one of my fave costumes. Such a mature & beautiful program!

I think the only reason that it was not listed as much in the fave programs thread was bec. you were only suppose to list 5. It's too difficult to narrow it down to just five since most of Michelle's programs are such masterpieces.

When you try to make a delection of just 5 where MK is concerned, it is most difficult. If we made a list of her least favorite, that list would be too short or non-existant. Michelle's worst is better than most skaters' best....

Lexi, winter is definitely one of my favorites. I love the dress, the program, the music.... It's gorgeous. my fave performance of it was the one at Skating Romance 3!

I love Winter, I haven't participated in the 5 most fav thread yet. But I think Winter stands alone as a program of honors for all of the above reasons. And I think Michelle was stunningly beautiful in that white costume.

I enjoyed when I first saw it, but after the '97 season watching it became very touching. This is the only progam of hers that has brought tears to my eyes while watching it on tape a while after it happened. I think it is because watching after the '97 season listening to the words its almost as if it could be a song dedicated to her during that season. With her self doubt and fear, all her fans and loved ones asking When are you going to love yourself as much as we do. I know, I'm strange.

Although I've never seen her skate to this, I have the midi file... I love it. I am now serioiusly thinking about using it for my Christmas project thing for Music Tech class, where you take a midi and arrange it. :) I'm deprived!

I'm so glad to see that soo many kwan fans love the program as much as I do. Unfortunately I have only seen one version ('96 SA) and would love to see, more of this program!

I too never saw Winter until I got Cherie's tape, and I found it one of the most moving performances I've ever seen. It's one I watch over and over, whenever I want to help improve my mood or attitude.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I also thought the song fit perfectly with what Michelle went through that season, it's eerie. Aside from the when are you gonna love yourself as much as we do, there's a part of the song about things changing . . . Yikes, I don't know if that made any sense but this program is very poignant.

tonight on Cherie's tape...it is wonderful. To think that a 16 year old choreographed that is amazing. It is beautiful. The clip before she skated to it showing her hugging HC and patting his back in her Peter Pan costume is adorable...and sad. I cried, but then again I cried about ten times during Cherie's tape.

GypsyEsmerelda--MK had to do several retakes for her Winter program at Skating Romance 3, so what you saw wasn't really *one* performance, but it was still great :)

Winter is my favorite Michelle program, therefore making it my very favorite skating program ever. It is just so raw and pure, the edging, the emotion, everything. It moves me to tears every time I watch it. It feels to me like Michelle bares her soul and pours every ounce of herself in it. It is breathtaking and beautiful! Kelly:)

I can't believe that I forgot to list *Winter* as one of my faves, especially since it has always been! The music, the choreography (done by Michelle of course), the costume ~ everything about it is very touching! That she choreographed such a beautiful program in memory of Harris Collins itself is another beautiful aspect! I'll never tire of watching *Winter* or Michelle for that matter!

I just thought I'd post on this subject because this is really the 1'st program of Michelle's that really touched my heart and made me a die-hard fan. This is the song that made me run out and buy every single CD of music Michelle Kwan skates too. Since seeing her 1'st performance of Winter, I have also become a Tori Amos fan (If you don't have any of her CD's, they're amazing... but I'm a pianist so that's why I love her). I can now play and Sing Winter on the Piano. This is my favorite song to perform. Michelle's progrmas have really put me more in tune to my music and the things I really love to play and to listen to. All because of on simple program. This program has touched my heart and touched the life of my love for music. It will always be one of my favorites

I've been lurking on this board for a while but with this topic, I had to say something. I've been a fan of Michelle for a while but I wasn't a devoted fan until Winter. When I saw this program, I was totally blown away. I had never seen anything like it. I loved its emotions and the honesty of the program. I agree with CheergalBA, I loved the music, the costume, choreography. It's also turned me into a die hard Tori Amos fan as well. I think Michelle has such excellent taste in music.
