mano...you make me giggle.. you can't decide which one you like best even with breaking it up between short and long?.... that's a real credit to the kwan team for coming up with so many wonderful programs. well, noone blames you : ) to be honest, i really can't rank them either so these are in top 5 random order: programs: rach, taj, romanza, DOD, EOE (soooo many to chose from) costumes: romanza, red violin, DOD(purple one, her white chiffon one with flowers that i've never seen her skate in, taj (1st one)

it is so sos so sososossososososossos hard to decide!!!...It really is!!!... I mean...I was getting so fustrated trying to limit my choices to 5!!!...that's 5!!! 5??? 5!!! I mean...I would say the only costume of MK's that I really hated was the EOE white...peachy...yellowish frilly thingy...yucky!!!... But otherwise...every other one of her dresses look nice!!!...especially her recent ones!!!...which suit her body shape perfectly!!! And MK's programs...I luv all of them...See I really can't' decide between Lyra and Salome... and Taj...I like them differently... (Salome for winning the worlds...) (Taj because it's really my fave)...and Lyra (magical...and 98 US)...can't really give them "ordinals" now can we!!!

I know what you all mean about it being hard to decide. I actually started this topic because I'm working a 13 hr day and I'm very bored at work. I work in customer service over the phone and have to stay at my desk so I can also surf the net inbetween calls and we are very slow today. It took about 2 hrs this morning to go through a ton of skating sites to decide all my faves (michelle and tara programs/costumes) but it sure made time go fast!!!! Keep them coming guys!

One of my most favorite MK costumes was her Dante's Prayer costume from the 1998 Worlds Exhibition...the dark red/light burgundy one...that one was so pretty.

Desdemona - I loved the one long sleeve and the other lacey, and the body lace sort of asymetrical which was very dreamlike, and Michelle looks great in black so my 2nd fav: 2. Ariane 3. Carmen 4. Taj Mahal (2nd) - this was the prettiest color - I can't even describe it; sort of dark pink or rose with gold accents - lovely. 5. Romanza

rcl Michelle's DOD is taken from 3 different pieces of music from 2 different composer. The inital 40 seconds or so of DOD is from Adagio - Act two of Gliere's ballet The Red Poppy. In the ballet the female lead character who was a Chinese dancer dreamt about 4 ancient Chinese goddesses dancing to that piece of music. You can find the Reinhold Gliere cd The red poppy on Naxos label # 8.553496-7, title The Red poppy cost about $13 for the complete ballet 2cd set. The main part of DOD is from Massenet's orchestral suite #3 Scenes dramatiques - the Melodrame section. Massenet wrote suite #3 based on Shakespeare. This included the story of Desdemona. ( I speculate MK and Lori named the program after this part.) The last 30 seconds or so of the program where the music became very dramatic and MK was doing the fancy footwork with quick turns etc comes from Massenet's Heroiade ballet suite - finale. These 2 parts of DOD come in a cd of Naxos label #8.553124, title: Massenet orchestral suites Herodiade, and suite 1 - 3, cost about $7, BTW, this cd also has about 20 seconds of Michelle's Ariane. Lori did a great job editing the music. My most fav MK programs sp 1. Rach 2. DOD 3. which ever one I am watching at the time lp 1. L.A. 2. TRV 3. whichever one I am watching at the time exhibition: 1. EOE 2. DP 3. whatever one I am watching at the time with exception of Mulan and KY Costume: TRV, DP, and DOD all tie top 3, I love the rest, with exception of EOE rag dress. Winter stands alone with honors as fav program and fav costume.

Skating Fan- Thank you very much for the music information on DOD. I printed your post so I can take that to the music store w/me. I'm amazed that it's composed of more than 1 piece of music - that was an excellent piece of music-editing on Nichol's part. Music cuts can make or break a program - IMO Bourne & Kraatz's new free dance w/Harry Connick Jr. music has very awkward, abrupt cuts that disrupt the flow of the program, and the songs don't seem to go together even though they're by the same artist.

but my favorite MK performance was that night at the 98 oly when MK was undeservedly placed second but she stood before the microphone with the world watching while she cried & searched for composure. Then displaying her spirit of benevolence & perseverance, she vowed to go on & this she has outstandingly done. I know some of my fellow MK fans are wondering if I read the topic of this thread & yes I did. But whenever MK & favorite performance come together I think of her dignity that night & I wonder if were put to that test if I could be a fraction of what she displayed. God would have to help me, because I don't know how to weather a hurricane in minutes & face the entire world at the same time.
