Which would you rather see at Nationals? My vote is TRV.

TRV with the current costume.

TRV for sure! I want another chance at a clean performance *with* the triple/triple.

The Red Violin, by far :) I don't know, but Ariane just never caught my attention or my liking all that much, even with Michelle's beautiful skating. I didn't like the music for Ariane very much and as many times I have seen it, I still don't remember much about Ariane, and got confused it with Carmen a lot. Mind you, this is just me. But when I think of The Red Violin, many images come to mind. And the costume - definitely tops :) The music also definitely tops as well! :) And yes, I did see the movie. Loved it! I suggest it for everyone! Might be a bit weird for some people, but I thought it was a great. And hey, even if you don't like the movie, you could always listen to the movie right? =)

It is one of the most "intelligently" skated programs I have ever seen ANY skater skate to.The music is haunting, the moves are fabulous, and the costume is the best!

I was caught in that program ever since the '99 Worlds Gala. I want that for Nationals and I want that for Worlds.

Which specific song(s) from the Red Violin soundtrack did Michelle use? Someone uploaded the soundtrack to one of the mp3 newsgroups so I feel like downloading it for the hell of it.

Michelle begins her program with "Anna's Theme". After her combination spin the music switches to "Death of Anna". After her triple flip the music switches to the "The Red Violin" at 15:00. When she finishes her back sit spin the music goes back to "Anna's Theme". After MK's layback the music switches to "The Theft", then when she lands her triple lutz it switches to the "The Red Violin" at 6:35 for the footwork section. The main theme is played again and the program concludes with the very end of the "The Red Violin".

I am going to be different and say, Ariane for Nationals. I have always liked this program. I like TRV too, but perfer Ariane. The music is powerful and builds at the end. TRV music is strong too, and has the Salome kind of an ending, with soft music into a loud stop. Brian, where did you get all that info from? Thanks a lot. I have the soundtrack and can edit it all into one RealMedia files or MP3. Without comments from Mr. Button, although he has gotten better than from last years nationals LP. He talked about the Charlotte for about a minute DURING Michelle's performance! Jarrett :)

Jarrett, I bought the soundtrack and have listened to it a miilion times. I just dotted down which parts MK used.

Brian, bravo you are good, I have the cd and I guess, I never have put in the effort of figuring the whole thing out.

I would rather see TRV. I like Ariane better, but I also love TRV and would like to see her skate a different program then last year. I'd also like to see her skate to this so I can get it on tape. I accidently recorded over it :(.

With out a doubt, The Red Violin. I never really liked Ariane, whether it be the costume, the music, or just the program itself. However, from the couple of times I've seen The Red Violin, it catches my attention much more. I'm going to Nationals and so I really hope Michelle doesn't go back and do an old program. Crossing my fingers for The Red Violin.

I choose The Red Violin. I like Ariane, but think she needs to keep TRV sharp for Worlds. (She did beat Irinia with it at GPF)

TRV. But I think I like the ENDING of Ariane better than TRV. From the 2nd triple lutz on, it's probobly my favorite part of all of her programs.

Definately the Red Violin. Ariane just doesn't have the same impact. I pray that Michelle skates her best and that she is pleased with her performance!!!!! Go Michelle!!!!

Although I am one of the few who likes Ariane I think TRV would be the stronger program. It is harder to interpret and she would get credit for that.

Although I too prefer Red Violin to Ariane, I agree with Lavender that Michelle should use it if for no other than practical reasons. (1) I think she's probably more comfortable with it at this point; (2) I think the judges are probably more receptive/appreciative of it; and (3) its got a much more dynamic, tense feel to it; and (4) I think its better suited to grab judicial attention, particularly vis-a-vis Irina's Carmen program.

Red Violin...there is a magic performance (or 2 I hope) of this program in there waiting to come out.

I realize that im in the minority but there is no question it should be ariane!! I dont think this program has been completed to near its potential and it is the absolute best music.... Too bad she doesnt switch ADITL to The Fate of Carmen!! I know that that wont be a popular thought but i absolutely love that short and i think michelle is well beyond using a beatles medley. Just my opinion though

dpierce ADITL is not a Beatles medley - it is a Jeff Beck instrumental version of just that one Beatles song - A Day in the Life Just FYI of course; not to infringe on your right to like Carmen better (although I like ADITL better - as a 25-year fan of Jeff Beck, a 36-year fan of the Beatles, and a 7-year fan of MK, I was pretty pleased with the selection myself) ;-)

Although i did know it was not a medley and that it was an arrangement of a beatles song my thoughts god twisted on my post. Thank you for your opinion and info. I suppose i am just a little set in what i like to see Michelle skate to. Although i like to see her experiment i just dont think that this short program showcases her biggest strengths. Thanks for your input
