hmmm... that's hard--so many. I would go with "Angel" sung by Sarah Mclachlan. Somehow, everytime i hear that song i think of Michelle waiting for that Olympic gold medal. Here's part of the lyrics from the songs and you know why i always think of MK: "Spend all your time waiting for that second chance for a break that would make it ok there's always one reason feel not good enough and it's hard at the end of the day..." Now i'm not saying all that MK does is wait to get that Olympic gold--no i'm just saying that the song reminds of what MK has gone through and the melody fit her style soo well. Hope she skates to it someday even Kat already did. sigh. SAndy

to reflect the season she's having as well as the constant pressure put on her by Speedy and the ISU: Woman in Chains (by Tears for Fears) You better love loving and you better behave You better love loving and you better behave Woman in Chains Woman in Chains Calls her man the Great White Hope Says she's fine, she'll always cope Woman in Chains Woman in Chains Well I feel lying and waiting is a poor man's deal And I feel hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel It's a world gone crazy Keeps Woman in Chains Trades her soul as skin and bones Sells the only thing she owns Woman in Chains Woman in Chains Men of Stone Men of Stone Well I feel deep in your heart there are wounds Time can't heals And I feel somebody somewhere is trying to breathe Well you know what I mean It's a world gone crazy Keeps Woman in Chains It's under my skin but out of my hands I'll tear it apart but I won't understand I will not accept the Greatness of Man It's a world gone crazy Keeps Woman in Chains So Free Her So Free Her

I'd have also voted for "Angel" by McLachlan!! When my wife and I saw COI in 99, I kept thinking that mk should skate to "Angel", not Katarina Witt. My 2nd pick would be "Reflection" from Mulan. I remember hearing she and Danny Kwan cried when they saw the premiere of "Mulan" (a screening for them)....I've always thought of her whenever my 4 year old and I watch the "Mulan" tape/dvd.

It's a 1988 Summer Olys song sang by Whitney Houston: "One Moment In Time" Sorry...I can't find the lyrics for this song, but I think Michelle can truly feel the meaning of this song.......it's powerful, and very emotional...... Go MK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cup of life This is the one Now is the time Don't ever stop Push it along Right to the top CHORUS 1: Here we go ! Ale, Ale, Ale! Go, go, go! Ale, Ale, Ale! Arriba Va!! El mundo esta de pie Go, Go, Go!!! Ale, Ale, Ale And when you feel that heat The world is at your feet No one can hold you down If you really want it Just steal your destiny Right from the hands of fate Reach for the cup of life 'Cause your name is on it Do you really want it...{YEAH!} Do you really want it...{YEAH!} CHORUS 2: Tu y yo! Ale, Ale, Ale Go, go, go!! Ale, Ale, Ale Tonight's the night we're gonna celebrate The cup of life!!! Ale, Ale, Ale ~ The Offical Song of The World Cup, France '98

I always thought "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" described Michelle.

I don't remember all of the lyrics to "One Moment in Time", but here are some: VERSE 1 Each day I live I want to be A day to give The best of me I'm only one but not alone My finest day is yet unknown I broke my heart for every gain To taste the sweet I faced the pain I rise and fall Yet through it all This much remains CHORUS: I want one moment in time when I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time when I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment in time I will feel eternity/ I will be free (last line alternates) VERSE 2 I've lived to be the very best I want it all no time for less I've laid the plans now lay the chance here in my hands CHORUS BRIDGE You're a winner for a lifetime If you seize that one moment in time Make it shine CHORUS end OK, maybe I remembered more of it than I thought! The song started playing in my head as I was typing... Anyway, I agree with you that this song describes Michelle perfectly. :-)

tteller, I think it would have been great if Michelle had skated to "Angel" before anyone else. But now that it's already been skated to, I don't know if I'd want her to use it. I actually attended a competiton in the fall of '98 in which both Katarina Witt and Nicole Bobek both skated to the song. So if someone else skated to it, I think the song would definitely be a victim of overuse. It seems skaters often use the same music. "Time to Say Goodbye" was used by no less than three times in one year (Roca & Sur, Anissina & Peizerat, and Sarah Hughes). Witt and Bobek also used "Evita" music when the film came out. Caryn Kadavy & Oksana Baiul both skated to "Meditation" at Skates x 2. "The Prayer" has been used at least twice. There were even two versions of Prokofiev's "Romeo & Juliet" in the '98 Olympic ice dance competition. And of course "The Battle of the Carmens". I think the funniest example of skaters using the same music was at the last Ice Wars, where both Usova/Platov and Punsalan/Swallow showed up with umbrellas and skated to the "Umbrellas of Chermbourg" (or something like that). Back-to-back. I wasn't there, but on TV it sounded like the audience sort of gasped.

I have to say Gloria Estefan's "Reach" reminds me of Michelle. Also Micheal Bolton's "Hero" is a good song for her.
