This is not a bash, but take a look at the Dog magazine cover that is on Sasha's website (it's the second picture):

Just thought it was amusing. :D

do you guys mean and reddish brown outline coloring? I don't see it on my computer, but some people do. i think it is the way the picture was coded or something like that. it has happened in the past with some computers. some people do see it like that some people don't. most of us see the picture fine.

What does she mean by "I hope that they now seed the short program"?

July 26th, 2006, 08:51 AM
Hmm...I thought that meant put them in order of ranking so that the top skaters go last??? Who knows. She hasn't had a problem at Nationals not being in the final group before.

I see the picture as a "negative". Sasha is very dark and the dress is white! Did anyone notice the mistake in the article which says Michelle was penalized for going over time in the qualifying round at Worlds 2005 putting her in fourth place. Kind of got that mixed up. She went over the time limit in short program in 2004. She had a poor qualifying round in 2005 and that ended with a fourth place finish.

It is coded that way; whomever codes Sasha's pages embedded a script that can invert (filter:Invert) any picture/text (Inverting a picture results in the "negative" look ... scroll down for the picture) that is designated as having that class. This particular class was used on that picture, and I really don't think that was intended. When the picture was added, it's possible the coder just cut-and-pasted a section of code and placed in the new <img...> tag.
The thing about CSS & JavaScript (filter:Invert falls under one of these two ... I don't feel like looking it up) is that they only work on certain browsers and in certain versions of them. Beyond that, certain functions within those two languages only work on certain browsers (or may be specific to one particular browser).
For example, I see the picture inverted when I view it with Internet Explorer (v. 6-something):
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b250/ScrappyTheOwl/dogcover2.jpg
I see it normal with Mozilla Firefox (v. 1.5.01):
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b250/ScrappyTheOwl/dogcover.jpg
IE shows the picture as coded -- inverted. Firefox doesn't know what to do with or how to use the filter:Invert function, so it displays the picture as uploaded.

There appears to be a weird system conflict involving the link in kwanqueen's post. I downloaded the negative picture and it comes out normal in my Windows picture viewer. When I go to Sasha's home page manually and go from there, the picture is normal. Go figure.
Sasha and the dog are gorgeous in the normal display.

I totally agree. She looks nice in the normal pic ScrappyTheOwl posted, but the pic that comes up when I go onto her website is totally scary.

this has happened before on her site. i wonder why? are they just too lazy to fix these things? i wouldn't normally jump and and ask if they are lazy, but sasha's site has had a lot of false info, screwed up facts, and messed up pictures. remember when they had it up about her leaving one of her coaches BEFORE she was ready? but the damage was done and everybody was already all over it!

The pictures show up normal on Firefox. Now, the only problem I might have is the statement "The Ice Queen on Gold Medals"... um. Haha.

thank you for the explaination. i know it had something to do with the way whoever designed the page, but i didn't know why it is that way. i use firefox, so i see the pict perfectly fine. this is not the first time this has happened to sasha's page though. my guess is either they have different people designing the pages and are not aware of that problem or the webmaster is designing to many web pages and forgot about this problem in the past.

I downloaded the negative picture and it comes out normal in my Windows picture viewer.
The filter:Invert function doesn't actually change the picture itself, it just changes the way you view it on that particular webpage. So when you save the picture, yo're still saving the original (normal) version of the picture that was uploaded.
Here's how I saved the "negative" (inverted) version of the picture: I took a screenshot of the page while displaying the picture ("Print Screen"), copied it into Adobe Photoshop, cropped the picture out of the screenshot, and saved the result.

When I viewed it in IE earlier today, it looked normal, aside from looking like all she's wearing is a long tunic. :)
The dog could even be the same dog as the Kraft commerical.

Maybe Sasha´s person shows as a negative on that cover photo, because the website has not gotten a permission to use it, yet?

Oh, and here's a link on Sasha's page with a larger, non-filtered version of the cover, and pictures from inside the magazine:

Is she wearing a dress or tunic without pants? It looks awfully short for a dress, and full on top like a tunic would be. Regardless, pretty picture!

Sasha looks beautiful in the correct picture, that negative one looks frightening. Although in the negative you get to see the dress in white, and that doesnt look bad in white either. :)

Shannon :FL

I think it's a shame the web master did not double check on both IE and Firefox. I suspect they most likely used Firefox, checked it, looked at it, thought it looked fine and went along their merry way. Any good webmaster should open up at least two browsers (in this case, the most two popular browsers that exist today) to make sure they look right in both.
I also find it odd that they would apply the invert filter onto the image, I wonder what the intended use was.
ScrappyOwl, the filter:Invert is definitely CSS. Thanks for finding that. I use Firefox and only occasionally use IE so when this was first posted and I didn't see anything wrong with the picture, I was confused. I think she looks nice in the photo.
