Okay, I am really beginning to believe the SI jinx.
Remember, when SI choose Michelle Kwan to be the winner of the Olympics in 2002 and 1998? She didn't win. This year they chose Sasha Cohen. She didn't win. There is a jinx.
Moreso, there seems to be pattern. Look.
1998
Michelle Kwan - Gold
Tara Lipinski - Silver
Tonia S. - Bronze (she was from Germany)
2002
Michelle Kwan - Gold
Irina Slutskaya - Silver
Maria B. - Bronze
2006
Sasha Cohen - Gold
Irina Slutskaya - Silver
Carolina Kostner - Bronze
Well, there is a pattern here. The bronze medalist pick is the kiss of death. They never even make the podium. The Gold medalist pick gets a medal, but it is not gold. The silver medalist gets a medal. One of the medalist is never even on the list (1998 Chen Lu, 2002 Sarah Hughes, 2006 Shizuka Arakawa).
