Yesterday my computer crashed and it won't reboot and start the windows program. :( I tried booting it from the windows cd rom as well.

All I get is a black screen with the following message:

<windows root>\system32/hal.dll. is corrupted or missing

Any suggestions or should I just hang it up and buy a new computer? This one is a Dell that is about 2 1/2 years old.

I'd hate to lose this one because I have all of my Michelle stuff on it as well as personal pictures.
